The tallest point in the Santa Monica Mountains. Shannon and Matthew's full day hike near them is the Sandstone Peak Backbone Trail!

This is Shannon's favorite half-day hike. Matthew and Shannon have hiked it hundreds of times at this point. This is a lovely hike but best spring. It's about an hour to the top with gentle switchbacks that pass along a stream leading to a waterfall. At the top you can hike the ridge as long as you want (it's 13 miles long and ends in Will Rodgers Park). Take the Sunset trail down or you'll miss the best part of the trail! Highly recommend doing this at sunset!
